Worship Wednesday: Build Your Kingdom Here

This upbeat, action packed song has become a favorite here at Horizon. It fits in the middle of our crazy fun songs and our slower deeper worship songs. This is a powerful anthem for young people to sing. These children and youth and even the counselors could be spending their summer doing a multitude of other things, and yet for this week they have dedicated themselves to enriching their relationship with Christ at camp.  As they jump around and sing (often yell) "Build Your Kingdom Here, Let the Darkness Fear," it sends chills through room.

This is a generation of young people crying out to God to use them in mighty and powerful ways for the kingdom. They want to set the church on fire with the Holy Spirit, they want to win the nation back and change the atmosphere of complacency that they are growing up in. This is the generation that is not afraid to speak, they are tearing down walls and speaking up for the injustices in this world. They are not satisfied with the status quo and they won't sit back and watch.

When we look around the room of campers singing this song, we see future lawyers, doctors, politicians, missionaries, pastors, teachers, and so many other things. They are dreaming and becoming incredible leaders for this world. But if we only look at their futures we will miss what they are doing today! This song doesn't say build your kingdom here tomorrow! They want it now. They are not satisfied with the hurt and pain that is in our world, right now.

They may be tomorrow's world leaders, but they are today's leaders here and at home. How are your leaders being nurtured throughout the year? Are they being encouraged to lead? Or are they being asked to be quiet? We encourage you today to look at your leaders, as you think about signing them up for camp this coming summer, look at them now, in their space and reality. Do you see your leaders? Do you know what they are capable of? They are the ones who are bringing God's kingdom here and now. They are the ones that make the darkness tremble. They are the ones who are healing our streets and land. If you let them they will start a fire that changes the atmosphere. They will love in deeper and greater ways than the adults around them. Today we challenge you to let your leaders lead, and let God build His kingdom here and now in your home, your church, your world!

Today seems like the perfect day to lift up our Director Joel Wilke in prayer. Today is his birthday. So as you pray for him, please send him some virtual birthday love as well! This is How We Fight

This past couple of months have felt like we were preparing for war. A spiritual war, but a war nonetheless. We have been working hard to prevent this war, and preparing just in case. As a camp we have hunkered down in all the necessary ways to protect ourselves and these hallowed grounds to be used for the ministry we were created for. We have spent hours in prayer and fasting discerning what and where and when we are to move forward. There have been many divine moments of answers, nudges, gifts, and incredible weather. The enemy is still working just as hard to win this war. We have had many patrons on our trails and it has been good to see people out enjoying the weather. Each time someone doesn't follow the rules it feels like a blow, because we are trying to remain open to serve people now but ultimately our campers this summer. Prayer for Young Wonders Campers

From Counselor Jillian: From counselor Kaden: Dear Lord, I want to lift up each of our Young Wonder campers as the summer approaches and we begin to think about our next year at Camp Horizon. I ask you to help these young students finish their school year by giving everything they have got in their classes. I ask that you stay within their minds and their hearts through every task whether big or small. I can't wait to be a part of their walk for You as they grow Spiritually this summer. Amen.
